Awright, then. Well, it's a classic story. I think I might be falling in love with my best guy-friend. However I can't do this. Being a girl and therefore, upside down and backwards, I could never date him because he's my best buddy (Yeah, he's in the dreaded friend-zone) and it would be totally awkward if I loved him and saw him every day, or was dating him and remembering all the innocent times we had.

So, how do I keep myself from falling in love?

its very simple for me to just type it her but believe me to to this its going to be extremely tough on you. OK here goes.

Reduce your amount of contact with him for eg , if u go out with him for coffee everyday after college now reduce it to2-3 days max giving the meeting a rest will kind of take ur mind off , but then comes the dreaded phone, so keep your hand off that phone for a long time... its going to be difficult , but if u proceed with keeping your silent love , without letting him know its going to be more hard doing all this later.

So u got 2 ways ; actually 3 , one tell him u love him and pull him up from that friendship zone to the lover zone , second and third are the 2 ways to avoid all this as mentioned above.

PS. i think love always starts from friendship, there is nothing wrong in falling in love with a friend , love is not instantly born, it is through friendship and then love comes in ... hope you understood what i am trying to say...

Hope i dint get too personal, sorry if i did.....

I was in the same situation..only I didn't realize that falling for my best guy friend was a bad idea. It was so horrible. I was head over heels in love with him and he still treated me like a buddy. Even asked me to help him get the attention of this girl we both knew. They've been dating for over a year now and I moved on to better things.

Find a new guy to fall in love with?

And by the way, dont' beat yourself up if you have already fallen for him. Its not bad. Just not a really good thing.

There is no off and on switch for love....... If you are that concerned just keep low for a while... stay away from him as much as you can and see others..... go out on dates, say for the next 3 months, not with any ole jerk ya meet, but nice guys, and see what happens...... IF you still feel the same after these 3 months, you might need to have a heart to heart with this young man..... It will not be easy to talk to him, but I am a true beleiver in telling ppl how you feel...... God bless

Stop being his friend, he's not going to stop being any less wonderful. If you like him now then you'll just continue liking him. Just find some other guy, or he may be the one for you. You never know unless you give it a chance. Sometimes it works out. Good luck!

You already know that falling in love is one of those things we seem to do without any conscious control. So if it happens, it happens. How does he feel about you? If you feel you can do it, perhaps a serious communication is called for. Talk to him, tell him what's happening. He may be already in love with you, in love with someone else (omg) or whatever. Communicate.

u cant stop falling in love, if u like some1 from the heart, thats where its going to stay.

what u can do is change ure feelings for him in ure heart and thats gonna take time, but i know u can do it!!

i love this person soo much and i know its from my heart but i cant remove it!! i have to change it, so instead of having this feeling that i want to be with this person more than any1 i will change it to caring for them like a sister, or a very good friend, thats it cant do anything else,

u may fall in love again, hearts work in a funny way, and they can change feelings so easily,

so to sum it up, if its from the heart u can try change ure love to something more brotherly maybe!!

but there is another way more risky ,

but if he likes u too, like as a girlfriend u can give him hints like that, i know its wierd considering he's ure best friend but he may notice changes in you.

risky because if he know u like him like that and he doesnt it may ruin ure relationship together soo its up too u, to take the best course

i feel for u and i hope u can change this feeling u have or if u think he like u too u may ask him out good luck!!

You can't! you just can't control your feelings....I think you should go for it.....you guys are best friends already....that's the key in a relationship.....not just "a lover" don't deny yourself this opportunity.....DESTINY!!!
