that are Millions of light years away? How did the valleys get gouged by glaciers 10,000 years ago leaving moraines, (not morons) erratics, and evidence of their passage? How can nonthinking be elevated to the level it is at in 'religious' nonsense?

I'm waiting for a good explanation for the Laurentide Ice shield, and far off galaxies, without 'changing the speed of light' over time.

C'mon

You don't need logic to believe in magic things. Logic becomes inconvienant to those who live by belief and not exploration. The few people who totally dismiss science are loonies whose opinions shouldn't matter to you anyways, in my opinion. They are probably the same people who don't believe in medicine and won't take their sick children to the doctor.

The world is only 6,000 years old because that's what they said at the Institute for Creation Research, duh!

In all seriousness, though, there is a way to make the light thing make sense, in that the earth might not have been formed until 6,000 years ago, but any further investigation and the whole argument falls apart. Here is the main reason why people are so intent on the 6,000 year thing:

The Scopes Monkey Trials: William Jennings Bryan essentially set the Christian public opinion on evolution when he failed to ask the question, "What if our interpretation of the Bible is wrong?" Christianity has suffered ever since, because Bryan and his cohorts set the paradigm for Christian evolutionary thought.

Ever since, Christians have sought evidence for an answer instead of the other way around.

The only reason you even think that galaxies are there is because you see a light in the sky. Maybe those lights aren't galaxies. Maybe they're just light that was made along with the Sun and the Earth.

On the contrary, being just light seems a far simpler explanation than billions upon billions of stars at ludicrous distances. To think you can believe in that, but not in a God... Go figure.

The world is not only 6000 yrs old:christian authorities have written so much nonsense in the past, but you should wipe it off from memory. They also said that the sun is orbiting planet earth, and anyone who dared say contrary were burnt alive!
Get real knowledge from Vedic literature of India-Vedas-which say that Earth is millions of years old,is perpetually being destroyed by natural calamities and visited by multitudes of sages,God Himself and that thousands of real faiths have existed in this world....

Dr David Atway Ray, former head of the Math Dept at Moscow U. states that mathematically the Earth is no more than 6,000 to 10,000 years old. If you can get a better and higher authority to contradict this man with proof you're a better man than me.

"World", and the "universe" we are in are not the same. This present creation is just 6000 or so years old. Even if the whole of creation is just 6000 years old, God did it, He can set the stage, so to speak, any way he chooses. After all, it is His intent to confound the wise because they believe they are so smart, when in fact they are not.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster touches all scientific instruments with his noodly appendeges so none are accurate. He seeks to hide himself from non-believers despite his spice and garlic laden breath! Did you not feel the joy of a 'carb rush' as he drew near?

Open your cupboards, prepare garlic bread and he will sprinkle you with his blessed parmesan, if you'll just let him!

OK, I don't prescribe to this belief myself so don't kill the messenger, but a "believer" would say because God made it that way as a test to our faith.

Some will tell you that those 7 days were thousands or millions of years long each.

The pat Christian answer is that God made the light in transit so it appeared here immediately. They have a whole list of "answers" to these types of sane questions.
