Against other Middle Eastern military units probably a 8. Against any other real force -10.

they have a great potential if we can continue to support their training...I am anti-Bush in process and I don't think the Admin (I mean Cheney and Bush) thought it out--but by going through a difficult process, they could be great allies....but that means the US acts morally and provides a good example for them (sorely lacking of late, not by the average Joe, but our leadership). It is my hope, as a Democrat, that we can continue to support them and provide a greater array of training for them. If we can have a Middle East, non-Israeli military on our side, we could have a Muslim force that at least understood that they have a stake in world events along side major powers as equals in terms of the needs of everyone and a counter to terrorist ideals...They need top develop a loyalty to each other that transcends nation and hold certain ideals more important than tribe or nation...they need to trust one another and the general conscience of the US even if they dislike one president or another....it will take time and would be worth it if the US gives a damn about them

Note: This is comparing them to a 'Western style' Army.

Basic soldier skills: average
NCO skills: average (but improving)
Officer skills: below average
Staff skills: average
Logistics: Needs much improvement
equipment: Needs much improvement

(For reference: The US military would score as 'excellent' in all categories.)
