Does hell exist? Yes and the proof from the Bible is, Rev. 20:10 "And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever".
Rev. 20:15 "If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire". The lake of fire is hell. Whether a person believes hell exists or not it's not going to make the fact disappear that hell is there and people will be sent there.
a) God is all powerful? Most definitely. He's the Creator of Heaven and hell.
b and c) God controls everything. Everything belongs to Him. If you repent of your sins and get born again then you should leave your sinful nature behind because as the Bible says you've become a new creature. So now He controls you so you can remain pure in His eyes but if you listen to the devil when he talks then there he cannot control you but he can tell you that what you're thinking or are about to do is wrong.
d) Those who control their own actions are rebelious, proud, arrogant, and stubborn and God cannot work with such people. the Bible says those that are rebelious God will make them more rebelious than they already are. And yes they will eventually be sent to Hell, unless God's grace falls upon them.

Nothing about God and nothing about the Bible is contradictory. Do not listen to man when they tell you the Bible is contradictory because you and they will doom your soul to hell. The Bible says ask for wisdom, wisdom comes from God and not man. Read the Bible, know the truth and the truth shall set you free. God bless you.

a. God is ALL powerful
Yes
b. He controls EVERYTHING and EVERYONE
No, he leaves many things up to choice, or lets nature that he created take it's course. He is in contol, but doesn't control.
c. But only we control our actions (not god)
Yes. You make your own decisions, and have to suffer for your mistakes, but God can forgive you of your sins if you admit you were wrong and give your life to Him.
d. God punishes those who control their own actions with hell?
No. God punishes those wo do evil. All men have sinned (done evil), he will punish all that do not repent (turn from) thier sins, and the only way to be saved from judgement is through Christ, becuase Jesus Christ paid the ransom for our sins. Jesus was perfect, and blameless, so when he died for our sins, we can be seen from God as blameless.
Is it possible to believe all the above or is it contradictary?
You can believe whatever you want, but you will be wrong. I'm concerned the most about d., because you can still make your own choices, but if you want to be saved, you need to make some good choices. You can choose to disobey the law, but you must face the consequences of not obeying the law (go to jail, or get in a car accident etc.). Make sense?

If God were not omnipotent (all powerful) then he would not be God. God is also omnicient (all knowing), omnipresent (everywhere at once), and all perfect.

Why would such a being exist?

One needs to have a formalized understanding of logic, something missing in most of what is written in this forum on the topic of God's existence. Consider the following as a starting point:

Premise: Every event has a cause

Premise: The universe has a beginning

Premise: All beginnings involve an event

Inference: This implies that the beginning of the universe involved an event

Inference: Therefore the beginning of the universe had a cause

Conclusion: The universe had a cause

For something to have caused the universe it must have existed outside of the universe and time. That First Cause could only have been an omnipotent supernatural agent, God.

Why is it that just being "good" is not sufficient for God?

In order to understand why just being "good" is insufficient, you would need to understand the concept of a perfectly holy and righteous being. Such a being would hate ALL sin and would be bound by the being's perfectly just nature to render judgment for the unjust. Just as we expect justice in this world, albeit imperfect at times, so does this being, God. Fortunately, a perfect being like God will render perfect justice, too.

While it is hard to hear, there are none righteous in the perfect God's eyes, even the "innocent children" or "good" people.

So how is a perfect God's demand for justice for sin reconciled with our own imperfections? Here we find that God came up with a perfect solution. He became flesh, lived a perfect life, and acted as our representatives in God the Father's court of justice. There He was judged and crucified, carrying all the past and future world's sins with his crucifixtion. God the Son, Christ, became our sin bearer and we need only acknowledge that sacrifice to be made "justified" in God's eyes and in God's demand for justice for sin.

Think of it this way. Your son does something like breaking a neighbor's window. Yet your son is too young to be made to pay for his crime. Society demands that the parent then act in the son's role and pay for these crimes. Likewise, God the Father allows God the Son to be humankind's representative. Christ paid the price for us all, it is there in the justice bank of God. We need only claim our "share" of that account's balance and present ourselves to God.

I have simplified much of the doctrines behind these concepts. I suggest you do some careful study of the attributes of God to digest these hard sayings. Start with some basic introductions to theology, especially the attributes of a perfect being (God) and go from there.

Yes ! He is all powerful, In the the book of Genesis and Jeremiah God Himself said the I am the God of All flesh and is there any thing too hard forme? Truly, nothing is too difficult for Him. He has the power to control everything and everyone (Book of Hebrews Chapeter1 says so).
Yes! God has given us the free will to choose Him in our free will actions and emotions. God is not a machine maker but He is a man maker. He gave a heart to man that man should follow him diligently with all his heart, mind and soul.
Jesus Said, He has a reward for those who have done good and also a reward for those who have committed evil( The book of Revelation - Last chaprter in the Bible would tell us this)
and all the above are true and needs to be believed.

Hallelujah!

I sure wouldn't trust the people on here with an answer as important as that. You're just opening yourself up for a lot of hateful responses. But yes, I think there is a God and that we will eventually be held accountable for our actions. I do not push my beliefs on anyone else, nor do I think people who believe differently from me are naive. I can only hope those people will try and be objective rather than abusive.

While I respect the views of those who disagree, I don't personally believe in a god of any sort. Calvinists believe in predetermination -- god decides in advance who will be saved and who will not. Of course, many do believe in free will (something I don't personally believe is true because people make decisions based on their view of the world and one's view of the world is formed by things that are placed outside of one's control. Things like what family or SES you're born into, etc.).

Since I don't believe in the existence of a god, I don't believe in hell.

It is contradictory to believe all of them because if God controls everyone then we cannot control our selves.
God is all powerful, but we also have our own ability to choose, God doesn't force us to do things. Plus God does not punish everyone who controls their own actions with hell. He gives us guidelines to live by and has stated that to enter heaven we must follow them.
So we need to control our own actions, making sure that we fulfill the guidelines that he has set forth for us.

a. and c.

I don't know but I'm sort of having trouble with this whole GOD thing. I mean, I'm not exactly sure that there is A God but there is a power that is greater than myself and he/she/it does not control anything I do. This power only presents me with options as to how I will live my life. I'm the one that makes the decision and take the path that I choose. I'm not exactly sure if I believe in hell either but will find out.
