They are chemically different.

Refined sugar is sucrose, and fruit sugar is fructose.

fruit sugar is the best kind you can eat, sugar from the sugar cane is not - and the more refined it is the less it is good for you. Raw [brown ]is the best way to go

Your body is able to recognize the sugar in fruit because it is natural, and it uses it as energy. However, your body can't identify refined sugar and so it gets stored as fat.
