They are just jealous. I love PR. I was born there and go there probably every 3 months. I love it there. they are just jealous, that they cant be a proud puertorican like us. I absolutely love PR. its beautiful. I never had a porblem with PR. People there are so kind are the food is so good. I know friends of mine that have been in cruises that go to San Jaun and they have always said they have seen nothing wrong with it and the islanders are so friendly and inviting to them. My grandmother lives there and she has never had a problem and says the crime is just fine. She has tons of friends and they or her has never ever been robbed. Its absolutely beeatuiful. People are ignorant also because of the privelige that PR has. You can go there without a passport and I guess thats part of the reaosn that they are pissed. They are just jeaolus and cant shut the Fuc* up.

Some people just too ignorant and intolerant. They fear all that is "different" and thus will not tolerate anything or anyone who does not conform to their "purist ideals" of American culture or social behaviour. Well, if Puerto Rico were all white, English-speaking and the cradle of rock and roll and country music, then it would not be Puerto Rico, right?

I am afraid that this is just a symptom of a greater attitude problem in America where we feel smug and superior and thus need to impose our "correct" ideals on others. And then we wonder and do not understand why the rest of the world resents the USA.

People are ignorant. Many other islands (except USVI) are upset of the special privileges the island has regarding not needing a passport to visit. Puerto Rico for decades has been the most visited island in the Caribbean. It was a pioneer in Caribbean tourism. The majority of cruises dock here and my friends who have been on cruise ship stopovers in San Juan have remarked what a great time they had on the island and the friendliness of the islanders. There are many ignorant and hate-filled people out there so I wouldn't listen to what they say and just visit the island yourself to discover it.

Because they do not know anything about the isla and richness in beauty, beaches, people and more, just drop them in the isla on isla verde or Joyudas, seven seas,El viejo San Juan,El Yunque, for a day and see if after that experience they want to come back, doubt it,i have not heard of someone who has gone to this beutiful paradaise who has not enjoyed everything about Borinquen patria Mia,if the peson does not know they should Shhhhhhhhh every contry has it's own beuty.

I agree with you. I'll accept there are criminals and danger... but these are elements also present on any country you visit... And in Puerto Rico there are so many good things you do while traveling that you will never get bored....

It's call reality.... How many homicides so far this yr? More than most inner-cities in the USA. We must acknowledge our problems if we are to fix them... Cantando la borrinquena dia y noche and moviendo la colita is what have all blind-sided. It's not ignorance...it's reality, rather! Let's call clean our Island of trash, drugs and crime and then call it la isla del encanto. Until then, far as Iam concern its not a clean or safe place.
