Howcome everytime i IM somebody on this site it doesnt ever work?

everytime i instant message somebody on this site i never get a response back..does anybody else have this problem?

Most people like me have the "can't IM me and can't contact me and can't see my yahoo 360 profile checked in their preferences. So sorry.
