For blocking stand as close to the net as you can without touching it with arms to your sides, with hands raised to at least shoulder height, and keep your knees slightly bent. Look where the person is that you are supposed to block("your" hitter) and then watch the set to see where it goes. If it is to your hitter jump when they do, and raise your arms up and put your thumbs together and keep the rest of your fingers spread as far as possible. Before the play if you are a leftside or rightside blocker stand close to the net and reach one armlength to the antenanae and stay that far inside of it, if you are a middle line up exactly in the middle and look who might be the hitter you have to block. Most importantly don't swing forward with your arms, just go straight up as high as you can, which is easier when you start with your knees slightly bent and with your arms at your sides with hands already raised just go straight up as high as you can, and remember jump when the hitter does if they are close to the net, if they are in the back row wait until just as they are starting to swing, AND NEVER CLOSE YOUR EYES, ALWAYS WATCH THE HITTERS HAND AS YOU JUMP! Hope this helps.

Well, blocking is a little hard but all you have to do is time it right. Jump when hitter jumps and make sure you have strong hands and fingers. Have a good attitude during tryouts and cheer on the other girls. Coaches love that stuff. Good Luck!

First are you tall enough? The basics are hand positioning and a slight surge pushing your hands towards the ball that is being hit, this ensures the ball will not drop on your side of the net. More importantly if you show a want and desire to be a force coaches will see your intensity.

jump high, turn the palm of your hands in so that if the ball hits them, the ball will deflect into the court on your side or deflect out of court on your opponents side. Basicly, volleyball players is one of those sport where you really need to do well in ALL aspect - serving, setting, diving, blocking, spiking.

Be a team player - not a glory hound and have lots of fun

Fan your hands so that your thumbs reach the sky. Once the hitter of the oppisite side brings her hand back to hit you jump up and block her hit if you are tall.

when the person on your side is surving, then our on the 10 ft line. when the ball crosses the net, then you are up to the net (this is if you are in the front line) with your hands up. and when i mean up to the net, i mean up to the net!!!!!! if the person hitting the ball on the other side is that is right in front f you. but when the ball is being hit and the hitter is not across from you then you run back to the 10 ft line!!!!!
HINT*********: VERY IMPORTANT! when you are going back to the ten ft line don't run backwards!!!!! you might fall!!(ouch!) the best thing to do is to pivet, and THEN go to the 10 ft line.
well, good luck, and best wishes that you make the team, and remember, pivet!!!!! don't want you to embarass yourself by falling on your face! (double ouch, inside and out!)
BEST WISHES, AND GOOD LUCK!!!!!

you would be able to desire to attempt hitting a suitable spin serve. it provide you greater margin for errors. undergo in strategies for a suitable spin serve, the toss would desire to be somewhat at the back of you. determine you arch your back a splash and snap your wrist as you hit the backside center of the ball. it might desire to take a splash prepare. yet, as quickly as you get the dangle of it you will desire a reliable serve to apply.
