Do they really work? Do they hurt? Are some better than others? Which areas do they work on?

it really, really hurts the first time - underarms is the worst. But it gets less painful everytime. After about 10 goes you don't notoce the pain so much. It's a bit cleaner than waxing, once you've bought the epilator it's free and it lasts longer than shaving. But make sure you buy an epilator with a light so you can see the hairs clearly.

Consider that every form of hair removal is a hassle and somewhat unpleasant but the results are worth it. Everyone seems to be focused on the pain, however if you have experienced waxing then it is certainly no more painful than that. I have been professionally waxing people for years and whilst abroad did not have access to my wax kit. My friend had a epilator and I thought Oh god thats gotta hurt but she was buzzing away with it without a flinch, I thought she was pretending, so I tried it. The key is similar to the waxing method you should make sure you have the skin taut in the area you choice to work on, and also its good if you press the epilator in firm contact with the skin, as the motor rotates it slightly vibrates and this creates a slight numbing effect, also firm contact prevents the hairs from being tweezed out from a height away from the skin, I believe this is what causes alot of discomfort for most people that have resigned their epilators to the back of a drawer, Also moving the epilator around in smooth steady motions helps. So in answer to your question, Yes they work, Most all brands work the same although I would recommend looking for the ones that have the small discs that rotate and catch the hair instead of the ones that have tweezer looking things that rotate, I imagine that the tweezer one are a much more uncomfortable choice. Oh yeah I own a Remington epilator.

Good Luck.

Oh yeah you can use them on all body areas, I would not recommend using them on your face.

I got my epilator 3 months ago and I love it!!!! Of course it will hurt at the beginning but after some time you want feel any pain it's like waxing. I tried wax by myself and it was a disaster that’s why I decided to get an epilator. I don’t have to shave for 4 weeks and my skin is really smooth, shaving your bikini area is really painful first 3 times where horrible but now I don’t feel any pain so I would say go and get epilator you will save a lot of many on that. I got Braun 5270 Epilator highly recommend that one.

It hurts initially but some have an ice pack which you can use as you epilate. I have found epilating very time consuming and it also gives an uneven feel to my legs and slightly lumpy when I have finally finished. I use a sanding mitt which you can buy from a chemist to smooth them.

The plus - is that It does get rid of that awful shaving rash which some of us get between the thighs!
The hairs come through slower and finer and feels quite nice compared to razor shaven legs.

Good luck

I had one for Xmas that you can use on your legs, bikini line, underarm and face. It came with an ice pack to reduce the pain. So far Ive only used it on my legs (Im not brave enough to try it on my bikini line!) and I havent actually needed to use the ice pack. Its not the nicest sensation on earth, but its not as painful as some people make it out to be

Slow ,agonising,torturous....brings tears to your eyes. I was advised it got easier but after two useless but very unpleasant attempts i decided it took to long and some areas...well, dont even go there! I stick to shaving or waxing, much quicker.
