I work for a small non profit resident care facility. Our staff would like to acquire 2 fairly new laptop pc's for dorms. Can anyone point me in the right direction for such a donation?

I would suggest that you work through some of the local electronics stores.

I was recently shopping in a Best Buy, and noticed that they have a strong community relations program. Here's a link to their community relations site:

If you have a Best Buy (or some other big electronics retailer) in your area, many of the local affiliates have some latitude for corporate giving.

In addition, you might try other local businesses. Local businesses like to establish strong ties with the community, and may be able to help provide funding or equipment for your non-profit.

Good luck!

Yahoo Groups has at least 2 AWESOME groups called Freecycle and Sharing is Giving. Their aim is to keep goods out of dumps and landfills as well as to reduce conspicuous consumption. I absolutely love my experience with Freecycle.

Here's how it works: Anyone can post on a message board of offers and requests. An offer is something you have but want to get rid of, like a "Pay it Forward" kind of thing. A request is something you need but don't want to buy. Nothing is allowed to be paid for, and the recipient will usually travel to pick up the item.

If you need a free computer, join Freecycle or Sharing is Giving, post a request saying "Need a Free Computer", give some detail about what specifications you have, and then sit back and wait for someone generous in your community to read your post and lend a hand.

It's all on Yahoo Groups, so you're already almost there.....
