yes American cancer society has listed a few methods of treatment that can be developed as alternative treatments for cancer. Indian Ayurveda is one of them it has cancer treatment described thousands of years ago, including radiation using metals and herbs, surgery etc. we must look to and learn more from these ancient people, instead of developing poisonous drugs.

From what I understand, cancer treatment centers (medical centers that treat ONLY cancer patients) attack cancer on a variety of fronts ... everything from chemo to diet to acupuncture. They are staffed with real medical professionals and most insurances would probably cover them. That's about as "alternative" as I would go. There just may be some worthwhile herbs or whatever out there, but I don't know how I would go about separating them from the tons of worthless garbage being touted as a cure-all for cancer, especially if time was not on my side. Also, from what I understand, there are many different types of cancer and different cancers respond to different treatments. Some conventional treatments, on the wrong cancers, would accelerate its spread. You need a lot of testing to determine what type you're dealing with. If you're asking this question for yourself or someone you love, I wish you luck.

There are plenty of alternative treatments for cancer and just about any other ailment. What makes alternative treatments "alternative" is the lack of documentation of their effectiveness, side effects, metabolism (how the drug is absorbed, response time, etc.), overall statistics (survival rates, mean time to progression, etc.) and rationale (mechanism of action) behind their effectiveness.
This is information people can get with "mainstream" treatments because they have collected data from years of clinical trials.
Contrary to popular belief, oncologist do not usually discourage alternative treatments. They allow alternative treatments to complement tradition therapy as long as there are no negative interactions.

The problem with most american doctors is, they are taught in school and when they graduate to use the radiation/ chemotherapy methods for fighting cancer and have been supplied with the equipment to do so.
What they dont do is use alot of alternative ideas due to lawsuit issues. They stick with what will not get them in trouble. Doctors will not get the supported needed to try most things. The governing boards of medicine deems the radiation/chemotherapy as the only way.
There is a medical procedure called BCEC and a new drug called DCA. Both of these are the top alternatives to fighting cancer. BCEC has the same result percentages as chemo/radiation. If a small amount of chemo/radiation is applied with BCEC you can increase the success rate up to 12-15%more. It is used in many overseas countries.
DCA is a newer drug but the beginning findings are very promising. It will be harder to get but most likely Canada would be a safe bet to find some.

Yes. Take vitimin c. The FDA says that the RDA for vit c is 64 mg a day. Linus Pauling who got a Nobel Prize for his work on vit c and a second Nobel Prize for organic chemestry says 1000 mg a day normally and 2000 mg a day if you are sick. Try it. A few years ago there was a research papaer out that said Interferon was the best cancer and infection fighter available, but it was $15,000 a gram. What the paper also said was that Interferon was the product of the natural breakdown of vit c in your system. Shortly after that paper came out the FDA tried to put vit c on perscription only. Guess why?? I had "something" that had me sick 2 weeks twice a year with at least one week in the middle flat on my back. After 25 years of doctors not knowing what it might be I started vitimin C therapy when I got sick. I took enough to keep me asymptomatic and just below too much to give me diarrea. It followed a bell curve over 2 weeks and at the peak I was taking 40,000 mg a day with 300,000 mg over 2 weeks. I did that when I got sick for 2 years and have never gotten sick in the last 10 years. Look into it.

Alternative to what? You mean non-chemotherapy? There's radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy. If you mean alternative medicine, like herbs and stuff, I'm sure there's some but I wouldn't trust them to work since they aren't approved by the FDA.

You might investigate acupuncture, acutonics and sound therapy to use in conjunction with more traditional treatments. Qi Gong can also be used in conjunction with traditional treatments.

Many claims exist and some are to relieve a person [with cancer] of funds they might wish they'd not spent. Do very careful research before trusting any such product.
When my son's brain cancer was diagnosed at age 22 he made the choice to allow initial radiation and to refuse chemotherapy. Doctors told him that without chemo he'd die within 7 months. He glared and retorted... No, I won't. And you can't make me... When, six years later, he'd had his fourth craniotomy [and large chunks of his brain had been removed with a new, mutated cancer] doctors told him he'd never live a normal life, again. He'd glared, retorting... Yes I will, and you can't stop me... He won both rounds. He'd decided to live with his cancer, not to act as if he was dying from cancer.
He practiced what he called PMA - Positive Mental Attitude. Each night before he went to bed he'd decide on things to accomplish the following day. That kept him focused on productivity instead of thinking about cancer. It gave him purpose, reasons to live one more day. He focused on what he could achieve, not on what he couldn't do. He'd decided it was his life and he'd live it, his way. It meant defying his doctors on more than one occasion yet he knew himself, his system. He chose to trust his instincts.
That helped him turn [their] 7 months into [his] 9 years, taking full responsibility for his choices and his cancer. Having done what he'd wanted to do before dying he was [his words] ready to kick th' ole bucket. He sent out Imminent Death Announcements, inviting loved ones to visit while he could enjoy and fully participate, reaching closure together. He lived his life with a real sense of humor, facing death the same way. Taking charge of his life he beat all prognoses by 1700%, with one round of radiation. No chemo. No herbals. He chose courage and PMA, dying 6 years ago at age 31.
He taught everyone who knew him the importance of attitude. He often said he'd die when he got @&%# good and ready... They'd best stay out of his way and let him live while he could - that was his attitude. So are there alternative treatments for cancer? Yes, some exist which may be effective. He refused them all, trusting his instincts.
Determined to optimize Quality of Life, our Quantity of Days often loses importance. Ironically, optimizing Quality of Life often increases Quantity of Days - as with my son. Whatever cancer treatments are ultimately chosen, PMA is a very powerful adjunct.
