I just got my lower back tattoo a couple of days ago. I would have to say I think the pain level depends on the person. But for me, the furthur away she was from my spine, I had a lot less pain ( I could basically deal w/ it...about a 3 or 4 on the pain scale). But as she got closer to my spine, I would have to say the pain level went up to a 7 or 8. I think, that becasue of the nerves near the spine, there was more pain. Also if you keep the size and the amount of colors to a minimum, it will take less time, so you won't have to deal with the pain for a long time. Mine is about 3.5 inches long and in black and grey and it took the artist about 1.5 hours. Then afterwards,it was sore. I've had it for 3 days now, and it's still a little sore, but the pain is bearable. Good luck!!

I had a few tattoos before doing the lower back one, and that by far hurt the most. It had alot of detail and so it took around 3 hours..and hurt when you get near the tailbone. But like any tattoo, you only feel it when he is doing the work, it is not a lingering pain.

you shouldn't really take suggestions from strangers who don't know you're personality because thats how everyone ends up with the same kind of designs. Discuss it with your friends and family and get your tattoo artist to design something for you. On the scale I'd say just pushing a 2. I'm not just saying that because they really don't hurt at all.

just depends on how you handle pain and how bonny you are. Tattoo's in general hurt less in meatier parts of the body. More important then pain is the artist that you chose and the tattoo remember that this is something that your going to have to live with til you die or scar if you have it removed. I have 3 have had them 8-5 years I still love each one and working on getting anther of my son. Take your time and never push an artist to do a tattoo because your more then likly to get a crappy tattoo.

I have one, and I would rate it like a 2-3 because after the first few minutes it goes numb and you really cant feel it. So its okay, believe me because I cant handle pain & I did fine. I would get some kinda of heart, flower, or something you really like. I have a playboy bunny. But I just looked at diffrent sites on the internet & in magazines for like a month to find the right thing! Good luck!

Lower back about a 6
It's getting way over done.
Choose something small
on your leg or foot.
Choose a good artist and let
them help with the design
and the placement.

tats that go anywhere thats just skin and bone tend to hurt a little more it seems... although my one on my chest hurt like hell too and i have a high pain tolerance. I like women with the tramp stamps lol u know a little tribal or something accross the lower back they usually have some good ones up on their walls or posters should be easy to find one you like or take an animal or something you like and they can draw it into the tat like a butterfly or something for example

I would say about a 2. I didn't get mine in the middle though so I can't tell you how that would feel. I think that you should really sit and think about yourself and what would represent YOU. What may be nice to me might not be nice to you....esp since everyone here is a stranger.
