I have straight fine hair cut (asian hair) into a short layered shaggy look already. I make my hair look cool and piecy and messy in the morning (with hair wax and hairspray), but it straightens out on its own into some flat boring shape like an hour later. does anyone have any advice from personal experience?

I actually have personal experience on this and discovered a few things. Watch out for the products you are using. If you use too much of 1 product, all it will do is weigh it down, seeing that MOST unnatural products contain harsh chemicals. If you have an Aveda in your area, get "Self Control", it's a gel based "glue stick", that I actually carry around in my purse (aveda.com for locations and/or ordering). It's VERY light weight and you just apply a tiny bit amount (it's shaped and works like a deodorant stick), to just the very tips and stick out or style like you normally do and it won't leave you're hair with that "producty" feel. It will look as if you flat ironed it like that. (Flat-Iron the parts out would also be another option, but this stick is alot quicker - I sometimes do it in my car.. hehe) I have early days that start at 9:00am and finish at about 7:00pm, and it holds very well. G'luck!

i know exactly how you feel!!
i'm half asian, but my mom has wavy, frizzy hair, and i got the same. : (
basically, i would advise maybe trying sunsilk shampoo/ conditioner, for volume, its in a yellow bottle, i think its called no flat, or something like that. i havn't tried the 24/7 creme stuff, but the ones i have tried work very well. just dont use too much, cause it will weigh your hair down. otherwise, try blow drying your hair, and it will have a little more volume and a "messy" look : )
maybe try a product with more hold, or a gel or hairspray to keep your hair in place
lol i got sick of my hair not having volume, and not holding curls, so now i straighten my hair flat everyday, cause its the only thing that holds
good luck : )

I found a great way to have that look that actually makes your hair appear fuller!

When getting your cut, ask for long layers. Short layers only make thin hair look worse. I was so amazed at the difference!

Best of luck!

I have the same hair- straight and fine. I also have a messy shag. (I'm half asian but I got my hair from my dad who is caucasian) I blowdry from the roots out, in about 2 inch pieces at a time. It stays volumized throughout the day =D

What products are you using? You may need something with a bit more "hold power".
I like Aveda, or Pureology.
By the way, I would love to have Asian straight hair.........I used to, but now it has a wave to it which I really hate. We all want what we cannot have, I guess.

I prefer hair that will is shoulder length or longer, As well as since that men who like females are more often then not directly, they like long hair because that looks more feminine, as most males have short hair.

you are probably using too much product.

use less and blow dry into place .

most asian hair has to be blown dried , add product , then blow dried to 'bone dry'. then sprayed lightly.

also, don't use product on wet hair. blow dry to about 85% dry then add product to finish drying.
