" superhuman, heroes, extra ordinary" mentality is a proof of our constant evolving state or we just trying hard to emulate a higher being?

I think that part of it has an evolutionary cause: Human beings, as animals, align themselves in hierarchies, and the desire to have an "alpha male" (or female) keeps cropping up. God (or Goddess) can be seen as simply the ultimate alpha being, a projection of the human psyche onto the universe.

Whether or not this projection has any reality of its own is a whole different subject.

Yes religion is conjured up by humans, but spirituality is an innate part of the human species. Maybe the animal kingdom too. Spirituality does not make the human feel like superman but humbles the human.

Religion has very little to do with God. Religion is man made. It's a set of rules set up to accommodate some guy who wanted to control a large group of people through fear. God doesn't work that way.

Yes.

Out of our desire to explain and understand who and what we are... and what our being in the universe is ... we are emulating a higher, more understanding being.

such was Freud's thought (instinctual desires ) .....:
Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires.
