Although America is not mentioned by name, there is reference made to such a land in the book of Danial. Read more in the essay titled The United States Of America Foretold In The Holy Scriptures and The Battle Of Armageddon, at the site below.

America would not have been mentioned by name because it didn't exist when the bible was written. However, it's also thought that there is nothing in the bible that could even be interpreted as the US playing a part in the end times at all. Considering it is a major country, it is curious that it is not mentioned at all, even in prophecy.

At the time the bible was written America wasn't heard of. Most likely it did exist but was not known of. According to history it was Christopher Columbus who first came ashore to what is now America in 1492, a long time after the Bible was completely written.

The bible is a collection of texts, of questionable provenance, shy of 2000 years old, do you think they would have enough fore thought to mention a nation less than 400 years old?

Mormonism is a product of the 19th/20th century... they claim America as the promised land... Have a book written by it's original leader as proof!

Sound a bit familiar?

Because "america" didnt exist. At the time (back at least 2,000 years) people who wrote parts of the bible didnt know that the continent, we know of as 'americas', even existed. It wasnt until around the 15th century that the western/eastern worlds would 'discover' america.

When you hear preachers mentiong it they probably are just paraphrasing verses and using the word 'america' because its relevant to where you are living.

Along with the obvious issues (like America wasn't named when the Bible was written),America, wonderful as it is,is not the be all and end all of the world.

There is a beast in Revelations with seven heads. The seven heads are described as seven nations. The name of the beast was Mystery Babylon the Great.... i have not heard any theologians say this but I believe one of the heads of that beast is the US. the name is a mystery because it didn't exist at all then and John couldn't explain it

Remember other than Native Americans we are all descendants of Europe Asia, or Africa just like the mix in ancient babylon

This really is a dumb question.
There are MANY things that are not mentioned in the bible, as it was written by a collection of uninformed men some LONG time ago, who were not aware that such a continent existed, much as they were not aware of so many things that have been discovered since that time and so many things that science has now explained.
You may as well ask why YOU are not mentioned in the bible by name.

Bible was written around 50-200AD. The Americas were discovered by the Vikings in 900AD and then officially by Columbus in 1492.
