Ha ha, if someone tries to steal my stereo, they'll get 12,000 volts in their butt as both front seats are wired to a clock circuit that oscillates at 1000 Hz with 9 volts running through a step-up transformer which is controlled by a switch on the back of the stereo. It works VERY well.

You pull my stereo out 2" and that's as far as you will get. An alarm also sounds at this point.

ZAP!!!!

Only I know how to disable it. Don't bother unhooking the battery, it won't help. It has it's own power supply just like a security system.

I hardly ever take mine out. I have a very good alarm system that I installed myself (I just don't trust local alarm installers to know how to disable my alarm knowing what I've got inside it).

If someone's going to go to the trouble of breaking into my car for the stereo, they're gonna find the faceplate if I leave it in the car. So when I do take out the faceplate, I take it with me.

I usually just stick it in the glove compartment. I realize that if someone breaks into my truck, they can easily find it. However, my hope is that if they look in the window and see that there is no faceplate, they won't bother breaking in. Especially if the guy parked next to me left his faceplate on.

I have a friend, though, who always takes it with him.

I just leave it on the stereo but have it in the down position like if I was putting in a CD. I haven't had any problems with anyone trying to steal it. IF I take it off I put it in the center console...Yeah pretty lame.

And to answerer above me, props on that electrifying alarm system.

Instead of removing the face plate, I have a cover that I attach to the front of the head unit that resembles a cheap AM radio.

Honestly, I usually just put it in the glove box or under either of the two front seats.

One of my friends puts it in her purse when ever she gets out of her car, I tease her about being over protective of her face plate when she often looses her keys, haha.

When I do take it off, I just take it with me. I thought that was the point.
