My darling cat, throws up. Maybe once or twice a month, maybe an hour after he eats. He is on the same food, (the expensive high quality kind from petco) I have been giving him from day one. Should I be concerned?

he has been losing weight, but I feed her normally and he eats normally, he gets the overweight cat food. When I got him, he was HUGE! The previous owner was giving him cheap kitty food meant for newborn kittens.and she was feeding him twice a day. The cat food I have now is also formulated to reduce and prevent a hairball problem too.

It is not unusual for cats to throw up 1-2 times a month. Sometimes it is just because they eat too quickly. If you notice any other symptoms, you should get her checked by the vet.

If the previous owner was giving him cheap food, that means he was probably over weight. Now he's getting use to the new food, however cats do throw up once in a while due to their sensitive digestive system, if they eat fast or don't chew well or sometimes, getting their own hair in their system.
Keep an eye on him tho, I'm sure you know this already, it's better to take a new pet to the vet even if the past owner has done it not long ago. :)

Not necessarily. He may have hair balls that he is trying to get rid of. Go to Petco and get some hairball remedy. It works wonders and keeps the cat comfortable.

It is very hard on a cat's digestive system when there is a food change. I strongly urge you to discuss this with your vet;regarding the weight loss. Check his vomit; is it a hairball? if it is, it is very normal. Something I found helpful is catgrass that you can grow yourself. It's available in pet stores. Cats eat it when they need to clean their digestive system.

I recommend you feed your cat live mice once or twice per week.
Cats need fresh food, too. Nothing fresher than mice on the run...
If that doesn't stop the throwing up check and make sure your darling cat is not binging on alcohol behind your back... Good luck!

your cat, as long as he cleans himself, will ingest a certain amount of fur, which he will, hopefully, throw back up. it may be that the "quality" food you're giving him is too rich for him (don't feel bad, you are trying to do the best thing by him).
i would try him on another brand of food. also, have a vet check him over to be sure there are no underlying problems. best of luck with him.

Make sure your litter box is clean, and that you give a hairball medicine. If you let your box get dirty, the cat holds its waste which backs up the system making them throw up.

No, what you describe is fairly common. As long as your cat is eating normally and maintaining a healthy weight, don't worry about it.
