ok so me and my 2 friends were at a birthday party and the dj's cousin was our age and cute, my friend summer went to ask his name and then she had to leave and then me and him started talking. We are now good enough friends and he asked me to be his valentine and i said yes and now my friend summer is mad and is saying i did it on purpose and i am confused because i had no clue she was obsessed for him. My other friend that was at the party is on her side but im saying its just a valentine its nothing! but they are saying its the same as going out. I need your opinion but please dont be hurtful, is it my fault or are they not understanding this...i already told her if she wants him ill back off but shes still mad and blaming me.

Girl, the problem is not in the guy, it's in how you're treating your relationship with Summer. True, true, she had nothing serious going (at that time) with this guy, but she had the guts enough to go up and talk to him, and that could have totally turned into something- but BAM!! You jumped in, and totally, totally disrespected her by talking to him that much. You should have avoided him, unless he talked to you, then you could have just said "Hi." That's it, unless he wanted more info about HER, then you could have been HER friend and only said great things about HER. But you had no right to get friendly with him, and yes, being his Valentine is totally saying that you two have romantic interest in each other, and don't try to act like you don't know that!! Come on. I'm not trying to be hurtful, but I don't think you're being honest with yourself or your friends. Don't try to downplay it by saying you didn't know "she was obsessed" with him, either. That is rude to her, and not taking responsibility for your own mistake. You knew she had an interest when she went to find out his name. And your saying that if she wants him, you'll back off is a pretty crappy offer, too- why should she want him now, after you got him all interested in you? SHE'S probably too good of a friend to go after her girlfriends' love interests...

A Valentine is always a nice touch for either a friend or the one you love!

yeah, i know what you mean, and i'd say it's a little of both of your faults, but she obviously didn't tell you she liked him and she left that night.. he asked YOU to be his Valentine, so shouldn't she be mad at him? You really didn't do anything wrong. i'm on your side.
