Are forks the same size across the board as far as upgrading? Neck Size, diameter, length? I'm using the bike for up coming adventure racing. So maybe all purpose or mountain climbing.

Well Big Grin is kind of right but snobbed on the M80. It is sort of a entry level bike and I had one. I thought it was a great bike but I ended up having some trouble getting parts, the worst being the bolt that held the sprocket together. Anyhow, the M80 is probably not worth putting a lot of money into and some of the upgrades you are talking about can be expensive. They also require some precise measurements so unless you have your specs manual you need to get a good mechanic to make your measurements. I dissed BigGrin a little because I loved my M80 but he speaketh the truth....maybe you should invest in a newer, better level bike and keep your M80 going as a second bike. Good lucks brother

It would really depend on how old the bike is. the M80 is an entry level bike at best, I would encourage you to look at a new bike. The cost of a new Suspension Fork and Labor would be pretty high compared to say a NEW Trek 4300 with Disc Brakes.

Other than that I wouldn't run anything more than 80mm if you really want to keep the front end down for climbing and go with at least a Platform or Lockout for your fireroad descents!

Furthermore, You need to consider if you have the older style Rim Brakes or Disc Brakes - is it an older 1" threaded steerer tube or unthreaded, or is it 1 1/8" threaded or unthreaded.

A lot of forks now have no Bosses for Rim Brakes anymore, so be carefull what you buy, also make sure your steerer tube is long enough!
