Its like this, I dont know if i will be strong or worried for my mom's operation, well you see its her first time,and I dont know much about thyroid tumors? is there any risk? you see I really love my mother and I need some advices for me to overcome my fear....thanks.

Your mom will be okay. I had my whole thyroid removed due to cancer. The procedure is pretty common. I wish you all the best!

The odds are very slim that anything will go wrong with this surgery. Look at the positive first - the tumor is benign, once it's removed it just the incision that has to heal. This procedure will be done under general anesthesia. The risk of death from general anesthesia is 1 in 40,000. While that's not a guarantee of her safety is means it very unlikely that anything will happen. The procedure itself is routine, meaning that it is regularly performed in hospitals and has low risk of complications.
I think you should talk to your mom about this. I'm sure she's scared about this too. I think you'll find that if you shared your fears about this operation you'll both feel better.

Honey, with any surgery there is a risk of complications. My adivce would be to speak directly with her doctor or surgeon and get some well informed advice of what to expect for the surgery and the recovery process. Best to get the info from the source.

I had that surgery several years ago. It is very safe. The only problem will be the incision which is not attractive. Cheer her up as much as you can and don't worry about it. It is a very safe surgery.
