I would interpret this as remember to set aside a special day to devote to God and pray. Christians celebrate this day on Sundays. Everyone goes to church to honor God. This is what I was taught. Raised Catholic and went ot parochial school most of my life. Ughhhh....

Israel was commanded to remember and Keep the Sabbath Holy. Remember because God rested on the 7th Day after creation and if God rests, then man should too. Keep it Holy because God is Holy(separate).
Jesus freed mankind from the OT Law(both ceremonial and the 10 Commandments) at the cross by the Blood Sacrifice.
However a serious study of the NT epistles will reveal that 9 of the 10 Commandments are reinstated for the Christian. One is specifically ommitted and that is the 4th.
Romans 7 teached us that we are free from the OT Law.

The Ten Commandments (part of the Old Law) was written for the Israelites (Jews). The Old Law was nailed to the cross at Calvary. It is to be used "for our learning" according to the Apostle Paul. We are to follow the New Testament. There we are told to give as we have been prospered and partake of the Lord's Supper on the First Day of the week as the First Century Churches did. Christ's Church set examples that we should ALL be FOLLOWING in worship services. These were done for our benefit not for the writer's benefit. Have a great week. Read, study, and obey GOD's WORD.

the scripture does not ask us, it commands us to do so. It's a part of the ten commandments of God right?
God commanded us to do so because sabbath is intended for special worship-of a time being alone with our father in heaven, without thinking or doing anything else.

Well, the Lord worked six days creating the earth and
all that is in it, but then He rested on the seventh day.
We are to remember how the loving hands of the Creator
worked for six days and rested on the seventh. Therefore,
it would be good for us to follow His example and work for
six days, but rest on the seventh or one day of the week.
