I am seeing this guy, we both like eachother, but since we're both quiet, things are going pretty slow. I know we both want to know about eachother, but I just to to break a few more barriers. What are some ways of doing that?

Start by giving him a compliment about his shirt or shoes. All he'll probably say is thank you. Ask him where he got it, he may just name the store or he may tell you a story. listen intentedly. ask him whether he goes to the store often or ask him about a person he mentions in his story. that should start a pretty good conversation. While you're talking to him get into the specifics so you can really get to know him. He will be more comfortable around you and some of your shynesses will probably start to fade away.

I can definitely relate. I am usually pretty reserved, and so are a lot of people I've dated. I'd say just have the "courage" or whatever you want to call it to be the one to break the silences. If there's an awkward pause, say something. Say anything. Do something. Do anything. Take the initiative.

Humor is always good; just make a joke.
For example. You say he's a quiet guy. Suppose you walk up to him and say something mildly goofy like "Hey, I thought I'd say a sentence or two at you, and maybe you'd say a sentence back at me."
That's such a peculiar thing to say that he probably would laugh, but at least he would say a few sentences back at you.

He probably feels the same way. You should just send out some stock questions and judge by his responses because he may not want to talk about family, or he may have certain interests that he loves to talk about. You know...'so have you always lived here?' 'have you ever read .....? have you seen such and such film?'
