There is not as much as one flake in New York City - that snow's all Upstate, not here. There is a possibility of snow tonight.

As of 12:00 Sunday, 2/11/07 North Redfield (up arond Oswego) got 144" or 12 FEET!

Up here we call it LAKE EFFECT snow. The wind blows over Lake Ontario (or Lake Erie), warms up and picks up moisture. When it hits the cooler land it cools off and dumps all of the moisture that it picked up from the lake.

Traditionally the places that usually get it the most are around Buffalo (wind coming off of Lake Erie) and Watertown (wind coming off of Lake Ontario.)

We don't get quite as much here in Rochester but we do get our fair share when the wind blows from the north or northwest! It can be snowing when the sun is shining and there isn't a cloud in the sky!

EDIT:
2/13/07: We expect another 2 feet within the next day or two!
