Everyone has come across the idea that you are supposed to live your life in a biblical way or as God wishes you too, but every does sin at one time or another. We are not perfect, such as God.

So that being said heaven is a perfect place and if you end up there could you still sin as you do on earth? Everyone wants to do something bad at one time or another, why would you want your choices taken away? (Adam & Eve) We have rejected being in a perfect place once and walking side by side with God, why would we not want to do it again?

I am a believer, but this question plagues me deep down because it seems like we gain so much, but still lose a little when we die...we do not live a righteous life to stay out of Hell...by the way

Exactly. On Heaven there is no sadness... no tears... no mistakes... It's all PERFECT and boring.

You are stripped of your personality and become a happy drone freak.

Who would seriously want that?

Who would want to live FOREVER? Try explaining this to suicidal people...

Yes but you are thinking about all these things from your perspective right now. A mind and a body that has a sin nature. The bible says when we go to heaven, we will no longer remember "the former things". We also will be "translated" into a person with a glorified body, that is indestructible, and we will have no sin. Therefore, we're not going to lust after the things of the flesh like we do on earth.

Remember what Paul said, "eye has not seen, ear has not heard, the heart cannot conceive, of all God has prepared for those who love Him". I don't think we can imagine, in our limited human understanding, the beauty and glory that will be heaven.

Only seems that way. we won't possess the ability to sin because we will not have a sin nature. No one there to tempt us and the hindsight and true understanding of what sin truly is and where it got us in our life. I think we will look back on our life and realize how damaging sin is. If God says we will not sin....then we will not sin. He's the one who can see in the future...you think He'd lie? And if that is true, and it is...Then why does that seem like that which is taken from you will be missed? If I had a rusty nail sticking in my foot and had to live like that for years..If I had that nail removed...do you think I'd miss it or feel it is somehow an injustice that I don't get to walk around with it in there if I want? How stupid a request is that? Believe me if you make it into heaven...you won't miss sinning.

Sin is making a choice that separates us from God. A lot of the stuff that is truly a sin involves some form of lie. Remember, lying is an abomination ot God.

A lot of stuff we CALL a sin is only sinful under certain conditions. Sex by itself is not a sin, but becomes sinful when deceit or coveting is involved for example.

I don't know what heaven will be like- no one alive does- but I don't think this is going to be a problem!

My mom and I read in the bible years ago that we would spend all our time in heaven praising god. what kind of stupid god would that be, who wanted to be praised all the time? it's such a human-centered view.

by the way, we didn't reject the perfect place - god threw us out because he was afraid we'd eat of the tree of eternal life. in other words, it's just a myth explaining things about life - when did we stop hunter/gathering and just start farming? why does child birth hurt? why don't we live forever? adam and eve, simple story, wraps it all up. and, of course, the story of adam and eve is a reworking of an older sumerian myth (where abraham is from.)

when you die, you lose everything, dear, because this is all there is. if you really think that there is a heaven/hell that matches the imagined stories of thousands year old desert nomads, you are not thinking. Most Genesis stories are not even hebrew in origin, but are sumerian and egyptian. The egyptian creation myth mirrors genesis exactly. exactly.

even so, i think the catholic explanation is just the best - hell is being apart from god and heaven is being united with god.

anyway, remember, jesus said the kingdom of heaven is within you. it's not a place you go to after you die. you go nowhere after you die. heaven is a state of mind, a reality you can create by following christ's teachings, rather than the bizarre, made-up rules of any church.

If we make it through this life and make it to heaven the Bible calls us overcomers. I'm tired of living in a world of sin and corruption. To me a Paradise is just as heaven is described by the bible living in total peace and harmony. Only the believers in Christ understand this. What Christ said in the beattitudes in Matthew is what heaven is all about thats where i want to be.

additional there are a lot of people dreading worshipping Jesus for ever but the bible says every knee shall bow every tongue confess that he is Lord you can do it before you are sent to hell or do it as a saved soul and live with him forever. But this worship is going to be like a celebration that is so great that 10000 years will seem like a moment you will have an eternity to do what ever you want except sin.

Well consider the Bibically expressed alternative.

There are lakes and rivers of Fire on the Earth (Volcanic activity maybe), plauges (flu pandemics, AIDS, who knows), pestilance (lots of bugs and arachneds), bad air (from smog and global warming and atomic bombs), bad water (from PCBs and pollution).

You're choice. You can STAY HERE WITH THAT or go where it's a nice climate.

And,yes, you HAVE to follow the rules and laws and edicts of the Head Honcho.

Don't you have to do that everywhere or do you go up against the policeman who pulls you over for doing 50 in a 35 zone.

If you're one of those people, who drive as you like, treat girls as if they were pieces of meat to consume, take what you want without giving it a though WE DON'T WANT YOU and NEITHER DOES GOD. Stay on the Earth and wallow in your own mire!

If you are truly a Christian then you should not have any sinful WANTS in this world or the next. SO... Just what will you miss in heaven? It is a spiritual existence not a human existence. We will be among those who are GOD's CHILDREN. What more could you ask for?? I can't think of anything. Have a great week.

PS- The earthly wants will not be present there. Satan will have no place in heaven. His existence will then be in hell. He will have no influence on anyone then.

well, if you think about it, the reason we want things here(in life) is because as humans, we have needs, and that makes us veiw thing differently. but have you ever thought that in heaven all you will need is happiness? and that is what you will have, because what is there to worry about? you wont really need any of the things that you need here.

I think it's normal to think about that stuff while we are in our physical form. but I do believe that our mind's are not capable of understanding, really. we are limited to what we know from experiance and the information that we have so far retained in this life, but since we have never had to deal with anything beyond that, we are just not able to understanding heaven and that sort of thing...all we have to do is have faith, that is all we can do.=]

anyways, that's just my insight on things, I don't mean to offend anyone.

Why is it that we want to do something bad?

Will we still have that desire to in heaven? Or will we be made "perfect?"

I would say that in Heaven our sinful desire will be taken away, it's the only way that a perfect and holy God would permit us to be in His presence.

The only desire that we are going to have is to honor Him, and I think that what that means will surprise all of us. I think that we have no idea what we are going to be "allowed" (I use that word to speak to the notion that all we will to is sing kum-by-ya) to do!

What do you mean by "sin"? Of course you wouldn't be able to pillage, rape and steal in heaven, but why would you need to? You're in paradise, after all. You have everything you could ever want.

And I'm willing to bet that, if heaven exists, the concept of "sin" wouldn't even be necessary there.
