I am cooking a pork roast TONIGHT! and am not sure if there is a special way i should cut the fat on top to make crackling?

crackling, is actually fried pig fat. Its taken off the pig before its cooked and fried separately

I believe a diamond pattern of cuts and frequent basting does the job..

do cross hatches (kind of like a wire fence) like this XXXXXX

but make the three layers of criss crosses connect!
