All one can do is acknowledge that is how things move and project backwards to a point or beginiing just like any philosopher thinks back to a first cause in an event. It never leads to a no God conclusion but in fact always leads to a God conclusion, in my opinion

Citrus punch, you do not answer the question at all, but make my point. How does it prove the bible is wrong? There is no contradiction between movement and the bible.

God gave us a magnificent mind and I'm sure rejoices when we
actually utilize it instead of running around like chicken little crying the sky is falling

It doesn't. As a matter of fact, some of the finest scientists in history were also strongly religious.

However, if I must choose between a scientist's observations and the words of a religion to decide how old the Earth is, or whether evolution is truth or fiction, I quote Cat Faber: "Humans wrote the Bible; God wrote the world."

I really like your question. I'm taking classes at a Bible College and we are told the Bible is a scientific book. Hope you will check out the link below. It's awesome.

Where other cosmologies found in religions have the world on the back of turtles, or the earth being the result of a fight between gods, biblical revelation is quite consistent with science. This is not to say that the Bible is vindicated by science; rather, it is science that is vindicated by the Bible. Consider the following: (note: all quotes are from the NIV)

The Spherical Shape of the Earth - "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in" (Isaiah 40:22).
The Hebrew language did not have a word for "sphere." Circle is quite sufficient.

The Earth is suspended in nothing - "He spreads out the northern [skies] over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing" (Job 26:7).

The Stars are Innumerable - "He took him outside and said, "Look up at the heavens and count the stars -- if indeed you can count them." Then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be" (Genesis 15:5).

The Existence of Valleys in the Seas - "The valleys of the sea were exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of breath from his nostrils" (2 Samuel 22:16).

The Existence of Springs and Fountains in the Seas - "In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month -- on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened" (Genesis 7:11). See also Gen. 8:2; Prov. 8:28.

The Existence of Water Paths (Ocean Currents) in the Seas - "O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!...When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,...You made him [man] ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet...the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas" (Psalm 8:1,3,6,8).

The Hydrologic Cycle - "He wraps up the waters in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight" (Job 26:8).
- "He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams; the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind" (Job 36:27-28)
- "The wind blows to the south and turns to the north; round and round it goes, ever returning on its course. All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full. To the place the streams come from, there they return again (Ecclesiastes 1:6-7).

The Concept of Entropy - "In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded" (Psalm 102:25-26).

The Nature of Health, Sanitation, and Sickness - The listing for this section is too large for this page. But the scriptural references are Leviticus chapters 12 through 14.

What does one mean IF IT LEADS BACK TO THE FSM it doesn't make it real! THAT suddenly becomes SELF EVIDENT.

Why are non-beleivers such incredible DOLTS!

If we can PROVE the FSM makes things move then the FSM is a force of nature. THAT IS SELF EVIDENT.

Don't you get it!

It PROVES something about the existance of the FSM!

But, of course, these DOLTS won't actually acknowledge the FSM anymore than GOD!

That is bigotry and narrow mindedness.

WHEN GOD comes and FACES YOU and DOES ALL YOU ASK and you still REFUSE to believe, you're a DOLT.

And that's what an atheist is.

They aren't from Kanasas. That's an AGNOSTIC.

SHOW THEM and they will ACKNOWELDGE

Show an ATHEIST and they'll come up with an excuse not to believe.

Now, who's narrow minded!

Understanding the universe doesn't prove that there's no god. Technically a god could have caused the Big Bang, for example. But this god could not possibly be the God of any religion I've ever heard of.

If you want a serious answer, here it is. God in his/her/it's many forms has simply been a means throughout history for man to 'explain' those things he didn't understand. Many things that were incomprehensible in the past that were widely taken to be undeniable 'proof' of the existence of god are now understood in terms that no longer require some 'magic' outside interference (for instance, the biological explanations of sentience). The more things we can explain in scientific terms, the less there is for people to use to further justify their belief in a being that does those things by 'magic.'

It points to the biblical creation story being incorrect. That is all. This really offends some people as they think that this means there is no god. It really just means that the bible is wrong.

But then of course you have to wonder - if the bible is wrong, why would anyone believe in god?

2007-02-11 22:50:41 · answer #7 · answered by citrus punch 4 · 2 0

It doesn't, really. It simply pushes God farther and farther out of the universe. Until He now must, if He exists, have very little influence over the way things here are run.

In fact, since all the evidence supporting his existence has been virtually disproved, what reason is there for him to exist at all?

It doesn't translate into no god.......however it also doesn't translate into one specific god either. There is room for science and spirituality within the human mind, but whenever religion asks you to disbelieve facts and believe fairytales it is wrong. Physics and evolution both are provable and for me they do not remove my belief in God (however my take on God is a little different than most). You are free to have your opinion...just be willing to give others that same freedom.

You mean in science there are laws and rules on how things function? And if there are then these rules and laws mean there is not a God? How can that be? Does not prove there is a God either....it just tells how things operate.

I see things presented on here all the time....How does science disprove the creation story of the bible?
