Hey--slow down there. The whole Valentines Day issue has gotten out of hand. The jewelery , flower and card companies have pushed it so that people alone feel the way you do. It is not a crime to be alone--I have been alone for a long time--and you won't be a spinster because the odds are in your favor--just relax and feel good for those that have someone--you will too soon enough. There is no age limit on finding a guy---it is not so bleak...you have to be at peace with yourself before you can commit to a partner---don't get a guy just to have one---usually you settle for a loser and then you will be looking for advice on how to get rid of him. It is just another day--despite what the restaurants say--despite the candy and cards and flowers. Men seem to feel pressured to PROVE the love thing and women wind up disappointed and feel cheated. Evevn little kids feel bad over it---what a horrible way to be on a day that was initially supposed to be a fun, lighthearted one. What do you do any other day or night?? I have to work anyway. But I would relax and feel relieved that I am not pressured by all this stuff. Happy Valentines Day---from New Jersey. If you want to--take a bouquet of flowers to a firehouse near you--thank them for what they do and it will make you feel good to have surprised a bunch of guys that have love for everyone in their heart. If you don't want to do flowers-cookies are a sure way to say it. I wish you were in New Brunswick--I work at the Rutgers University fire station and would like to meet you. Happy Valentines Day and please--SMILE--set your sights high and go get a real nice guy when he comes along.Good luck, my friend

lol a spinster? I haven't heard that one in a long time.
I understand what you are saying. It seems like everything at this time of year is geared towards the couples. Don't fret about it. It is OK to be single on Valentines day. Do you have any single friends, you could get together and go to a movie? Take a walk in the park. You shouldn't ignore your attached friends. They are all doing the same exact thing as everyone else. You have the opportunity to be doing something you want. Something different. Take advantage of being single. (otherwise, we would be reading your question of what to get him) You aren't going to end up a spinster, lol, you sound cute as a button. So have a great Valentines Day. Wish it to everyone you see, and then go enjoy your life as you want it, not what someone else had planned for you that day.

I don't think ignorning your friends is the answer... Many of your friends who you believe are being wined and dined aren't going to be with this same person this time next year. Be happy that they are happy - this year... ha ha. Being in college, I'm sure you'd be shocked to find how many people will be at the library on Valentine's night... Go hang out there, you just might find that boyfriend. ;) Besides, if you're seriously all alone there, who would know. Right.
Good luck.
By the way, been married almost 11 years, I won't be wined and dined this year either. Will probably be sitting on the couch watching American Idol while the husband surf's the web. (See what you have to look forward to?) :D

You're 19 and you're afraid of being a spinster? Geez. Hon, you're in college now — there are more important things to worry about than men. Go out on the town by yourself and enjoy life.

go out, there are parties all the time in the college life, just dont let anyone have ur drink while ur gone...dont wanna die on v-day. Just party and remind urself that being in a relationship isnt always as fun as being single. Or you can visit the fam, Valentine's day is for the one you love, doesnt have to b the opposite sex--thats Sweetest Day

Go out and treat yourself to something that you normally wouldn't.
Get a manicure or pedicure, go get a new hair style, buy a cute little dress or a sexy bra and panty set. It will all make you feel wonderful.
Just remember that you don't need a special someone to make you a special someone.
And don't think that you are the only one going solo. I am too! :)

No boyfriend? Don't worry, the best things are the things worth waiting for. Go shopping, and laugh at all the red and pink crap all over the mall. Go splurge at your favorite fast food place. Hang out at the bookstore.

Don't worry. I am in your same position and the same age as you...
I never had a bf before; that doesn't mean I am not going after one...
Unfortunately for my V-Day, it is a full day of classes, I have no time to enjoy it.
