Haven't spoken those words to each other yet, but even if we are breaking up, I want him to know how much he's meant to me. Is it cruel for me to tell him?

I don't think you should tell him that. You guys are probably going to break up and obviously both are wanting different things. You might want to tell him you love him in hopes that he may change his mind and when he doesn't, then you will become more hurt. I would just tell him how you felt about him and stuff and request that you guys stay friends.

It's not cruel, it's unnecessary. Just end it with as little emotion as possible so it's the most civilized. Be nice, but if love hasn't been brought up yet, now is not the time to bring it up.

being truthful in a relationship is always a good thing, even if things arent working out. and i think that the fact you two are seperating because your lives arent coinciding i get that its hard but its good that you both realize it. telling your guy how much hes meant to you and that you love him sounds good. like thanking him for however long you guys have been togehter and thigns liek that. good luck.

no its not cruel. If thats how u feel, you should let him know. Even when 2 people are on "different paths" they can still make their ends meet. Unless theres no love on his side...
