My grandma happened to mention to an acquaintance of hers that I don't wear shorts, but will wear pants, skirts, skorts, and dresses. When she told the woman this, she asked my grandma, "Is your granddaughter a Christian girl?" When she learned I wasn't, she said, "Well, she should be. There aren't many young girls who cover themselves." Do they think all non-christians dress like harlots?

And why does Yahoo! automatically want to stick all my questions under the Lesbian and Transgendered category!!!!???? They, too, are making false assumptions!!!!!

It is no secret that religious people tend to have more conservative values. If Christianity is the dominant religion in your area, then it is natural to think that you might be one.

The woman probably is a Christian herself, as most people in the US claim to be, so she assumed you were too.

But what do you mean Yahoo! automatically sticks all your questions under the Lesbian and Transgendered category? You get to decide which category your questions appear under.

Heh, people assume I'm a Satanist because they mistake my Thor's Hammer for an inverted cross. (Really I don't see how, they don't look that much alike.) Plus one of my favorite colors to wear is black.

Unfortunately people have pre-conceived notions about what people should and shouldn't look like, stereotypes.

Now as far as the Yahoo categorizing questions...they suggested mine be posted in the Science and Astronomy section.

I don't care for shorts either. I wear shorts but not daisy dukes! I'm also a pretty conservative dresser. I'm one of those that doesn't like her bra strap showing. I mean come on ladies...leave a little to the imagination!

I think that acquaintance is pretty shallow for judging Christianity on looks and apparel alone.

It is a stereo-type not a assumption. They think that just because you do one thing that you fall into the category they think you would fit into.

Looks can be deceiving. People usually think that I look like a nice Christian man. They never guess that am an atheist and yes ... I even have a tattoo!!!

I think it's up to you to categorize your questions but I can't comment on the predilections of the presumptuous or the prejudiced .
