how to best sooth it

Ouch!

I use a non scented body lotion to moisturise and sooth the skin, especially after shaving. If you use a scented lotion it may make the razor burn worse, or it may sting the sensitive skin.

A moisturizing body lotion applied right after you shave is the best way. To prevent razor burn later, try using a scrub to exfoliate the skin before you shave.
