I have my gold chain around my neck constantly, not to show of, its just a small cross that my great grandma gave to me before she passed.

I almost never take it off, does having the chain on my neck do anything bad for my neck? or is it perfectly fine.

Like i said, i even sleep with it on and take a bath with it on sometimes.

Gold is an inert metal so far as the body is concerned, for most people. It is used in dental procedures in the forms of screws and caps, exactly for this reason. So wearing it around your neck, even constantly, isn't a hazard to your health. You might want to take it off for jewelry cleaning periodically, since it will build up a coating of skin, oil and soap, etc- but otherwise, it won't hurt you at all.

No, especially for gold, which isn't very reactive, there's no danger. I have one around my neck 24/7 too. I'd avoid a lead chain, though. That just might do you in. ;)

i've worn a gold necklace 24/7 that my husband gave me for years with no problem other than needing to get the hoop on the charm reinforced from getting worn moving around

the only thing i can think of happening to it would be the chain will weaken over time from wearing all the time, especially in the shower and to bed, and it will eventually break
