Wicker baskets are my major tools of organization because I like how they look. On a daily basis, when you get your mail, get rid of the junk mail. If something needs your immediate attention, (forms to fill out, a phone call to make) put it someplace it will nag you - for me that's on the kitchen table. I have basket for bills that need to be paid soon, and a basket for non-bill items that need to be dealt with soon. It's important to go through those bill and to-do baskets on a regular basis so you don't get behind on things. Appointments get put on my calendar, and the paper announcing the appointment goes in the trash. I have a wicker step basket designed to put on the stairs. Here I put things that need to go upstairs, rather than having items just pile up from stair to stair. In my den I have a basket by the chair I sit in which holds any books, newspapers or puzzles I'm working on. In my bedroom there's a basket for dirter clothes and a basket things that need to go elsewhere in the house as soon as i get around to it. Designate a place for every kind of item in your house and try to keep it there. Don't let things build up. Whenver possible, deal with them right away. Once you have a big mess you feel overwhelmed and unable to act. So don't let dishes pile up in the living room - whenver you maka a trip out to the kitchen, bring something with you that needs to go there. Don't let dishes pile up in the sink between meals. Wash the little bit that you used or place it in the dishwasher.

I don't necessarily do every little thing the way she does it, but she has revolutionized my approach to housework and childcare and I'm extrememly grateful for her free website!
