protein is also very important, especially if you are running. If you eliminate all processed food, white sugar, white flour from your diet you will lose weight. Drink lots of water, always start the day with a healthy breakfast, even if you just have time for an apple and a handful of soy nuts. Have a salad with cheese and meat, fish or beans for lunch and vegetables with lean meat for dinner. When you feel like snacking, grab that apple.

Even though I do not have an answer for your question, I will let you know that I have had weight problems in the past. A proper diet not only allows for you to lose weight properly, but also build lean muscle and just be a healthy individual. Aim for the food pyramid, and make sure you eat once every three hours. Most of us don't have time, so mainly concentrate on a multi-vitamin, a good source of protein, fiber/whole grain, and your apples and veggies. I don't know if I would recommend running 4-5 miles a day, maybe three times a week. Remember, you do NOT want to overwork your body.
To my own surprise I am now a collegiate athlete, so if you are serious about weight loss and getting in good shape, get in touch with me through email.

You will lose a ton of muscle, hardly any fat.
You should eat Lean Protein, Veggies, Fruit, Whole Wheat Breads, and limit Junk Food.
You should also lift weights and do cardio on opposite days.
Example
Mon-Run
Tuesday-Lift
Wed- Run
Thursday- Lift
Friday- Run
and take Saturday and Sunday off to rest your body.
Make sure when you lift that you work your entire body, that includes legs!
Leg muscle is a huge component to a faster metabolism.

You wouldn't be able to have the energy to run those miles if all you eat is fruits and veggies. You only get energy from carbs, proteins, and fat. For every gram of carbs and protein, you get 4 calories. For every gram of fat you get 9 calories. Eat fruits and veggies, plus whole wheat carbs and lean protiens, then you should be dropping weight pretty quickly.

Without lean protein such as chicken, fish, turkey your muscle tissue will start to degrade. You only need 6 to 9 ounces per day. A couple of serving of whole grain such as oatmeal would really help too.

You will have diarrhea and lack energy because you aren't eating any protein and too few carbs. Most of your weight loss will be from loss of fluids; the lbs. will return when you return to a regular diet.
