When Jesus did his thing, a new age arrived. The Mosaic Law was put away and the new Messianic Law of grace was established. At the crucifixion the curtain of the temple was torn to show that now there would no longer be a barrier against man and God, and that through Christ man could have fellowship with God, not just the high priest. So God did away with the old ways, and that meant that the old stone temple was done away with, cast down. The new temple was now the body, the inner sanctuary was the soul, in which resides Christ who is the real high priest that makes intercession for us. The material was superseded by the spiritual. A new way. No longer necessary to follow the written law, but the law of Christ written on one's heart.

It was prophecized that the old temple would be destroyed, and it was by the Romans in AD 70.

Your reference is not clear. Luke 21:5,6?
It was Christ prophesying the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD by the Romans. It was their custom to remove even the foundation stones of the temples they destroyed. A generation (considered to be 40 years) did not pass away before this happened.

He was prophesying about the Temple being destroyed by the Romans in 70 C.E. (A.D.) Rome finally got tired of all the Jewish revolts and just cracked down HARD on the Jews in Israels, destroying the Temple and the genealogies within.

Christ Jesus foretold it about 40 years before it happened.

Could be speaking of the upcoming take over of Jerusalem which ended in the temple being torn down and apart. Makes for good reading!

He meant what he said. nearly 70 years later it was destroyed.

1Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2"Do you see all these things?" he asked. "I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
