Turbo tax (if you answer all the questions correctly) should give you a good return and they check for errors before it's finished. Yeah you can go to an accountant and send in a revised return.
I used to do taxes by hand, but find turbo tax to be much better. $50 for turbo tax as opposed to $200-300 for an accountant, to get the same results. Why would anyone do that?

Yes you can redo them even if you have already filed, you can file an amended return on form 1040X. You can also file an amended return for prior tax years up to 3 years prior.
I am not sure if it's allowed on yahoo answers but, email me if you need assistance bradss701@yahoo.com, I do taxes professionally.

Yup. Been there, done that.
I learned the hard way, don't use one of those programs if you own your own business. They are notorious for having problems on additional forms like those business owners must file.
Accountants I know have also said the programs are ok for simple filing, but the more detailed and additional forms you have to include, the more likely that there will be a major error someplace.
A faithful customer with my tax accountant.
