sounds like you have a fungus...stop using the fake nails for now and keep them out of your mouth...apply vicks vapor rub on your nails twice a day for several weeks..this should help with the fungus and the new nail will start growing again....wearing fake nails for long periods will cause this..it is because the natural nail can not get the oxygen and minerals that they need to grow

If you havent already.. take off your fake nails!! It is very possible that you got an infection from an unsteril instrument in a nail salon (assuming your talking about acrylics and not press-ons). You need to see a doctor, because it seems like it has gotten really bad. If it smells, its infected or has a fungus.
The glue will not do this to your nail. There are a number of things that will... so go to the doctor and have them check it out.
If you are going to wear fake nails.. don't do it until you have this cleared up. Then be cautious.
If you get them done in a salon - make sure they sanitize everything they use on you, files, brushes, EVERYTHING! in barbicide (the blue liquid) or alcohol. If you don't see them do this don't let them touch you with it.. you don't know what the last person had on their nails.
If you do it yourself, make sure you use enough glue to eliminate ALL air bubbles. If you see an air bubble, water can get under there and cause a fungus.

DOCTOR!!!!! It sounds like the fake nails have ruined your real nails. If it is an infecton, it needs to be cleared up. Once your old nail has fallen off (I know, gross) and your fingers have healed, if the nail bed has not been destroyed, new nails should begin growing. It will take a while to have pretty nails again, but the important thing here is to get your fingers and nailbeds healed, so PLEASE do not put on fake nails in the meantime--that would be defeating the whole process. Yes, your fingers will look yucky for a while, but hopefully, when your nails grow back, you will take care of them better. Stick to nail polish and clean it off often. It is important to let your nails breathe to stay healthy. Also, stop biting your nails (easier said than done, important). If you can, wear thin cotton gloves. Wear rubber gloves when working so dirt does not get into the healing nailbeds.

Sounds to me like you may have a fungus. This probably should be a trip to the doctor. There was just a news item on the news in my area about nail salons, and they are required to keep instruments sterilized, etc. I too get my nails done every two weeks. I have not had this problem, but have known others that have. You might try over the counter medications for ring worm or fingus infection. It mught clear it up. I would recommend that you leave your nails off for awhile and change nail salons.

For years, I wore nail polish and then my nails became brittle, something they never did before. I quit wearing polish and my nails went back to normal. The smell you are experiencing could mean the sign of an infection. Get the nails off and consult your doctor. Try eating lots of jello. You could also have an allergy to the glue or you could have a fungus. The only way to know for sure is to see a doctor.

I'm so sorry. It's highly infected, the smell is a major indication. It's a common fungal infection that may be able to be cleared up with a topical brush-on medication. But it takes 6 months. You have to brush it on twice a day. That should do the trick, but if not, you may have to go the stronger route of Lamisil tablets. You take them for 3 months. They're expensive but they work for what you have.

You should go to your salon and have them take off the acrylic on your thumbs. Assuming you do this at a salon you will be fine. This used to happen to me alot, I'm a teacher so i wash my hands ALOT and the acrylic used to part from the nail. It is ok as lonk as your manicureist fixes it right away. Otherwise water and stuff gets trapped in there and gets GROSS. That's your smell. GO TO A SALON!!!
