If I file through TurboTax and I am not happy with the return ( or I do something wrong), am I able to redo my taxes for this year by having an accountant do them?

Any tax preparer (CPA/Accountant) would be able to file an amended return on your behalf - or you could do it yourself in TurboTax. Keep in mind, however, that the preparer's fee may be more than the extra refund you would receive by amending the return.

All in all, you should be sure that the IRS has the correct information, but be prepared to pay for having the forms done.

Good luck!

Turbo tax (if you answer all the questions correctly) should give you a good return and they check for errors before it's finished. Yeah you can go to an accountant and send in a revised return. I used to do taxes by hand, but find turbo tax to be much better. $50 for turbo tax as opposed to $200-300 for an accountant, to get the same results. Why would anyone do that?

If you're not happy w/ the results that TurboTax produced, you don't have to file that. AAMOF, you don't even have to pay TurboTax if you're using the web version. Take it to your accountant and be prepared to pay his/her price.

However, if you already efiled the result of TT's calculations, and some tax expert unearthed some changes (in your favor or otherwise) afterwards, then you'll have to file a 1040x.
