The body of Christ shouldn't expect nonbelievers to speak positively about the bible. "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of this world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, 'They hated Me without cause.'" - (John 15:18-25) Keep spreading God's LOVE no matter what.

You realize that there are many denominations of Christianity that disagree with each other on the interpetation of the Bible and nature of God. Different denominations then say the others are wrong and misguided. It seems to me that there must be tons more people that don't understand than do since even amongst Biblical scholars there is much disagreement.

I think you're mixing up understanding with believing. I have been a born again bible believing Christian for the past 10 years and am now backslidden due to many things but problems with the bible is one of them and trust me, I understand it. Peace :-)

I assume that, in your opinion, people who don't understand it are those who don't agree with it?
There are some people who understand it perfectly well and speak out against it.
I think anyone who believes in the Bible does not understand it, they have twisted it up and tried to make it something good. It's a book full of hate and intolerance and fear mongering.

I think you are right. I think they pretend to understand or may misinterpret what they read or study. The bible is very simple. Too many people over think the bible, they expect it to be complicated, in it's essence it is asking you to love one another, take Jesus as your savior, live a happy and clean life. Maybe I am naive but I don't get it

We all fear the unknown; those who don't understand the bible fear it. The bible speaks sternly of those who don't believe, and that should be enough to scare anyone. Most people would rather speak out of ignorance, rather than seeking the truth. All you can do is share what you do know in an attempt to enlighten others.

What's not to understand? I have a high comprehension and a B.A. in English. I understand the bible perfectly. Just because people point out inconsistancies doesn't mean they don't understand it. If anything, it means they read it very closely.

Why is it you suppose they don't understand it? Just maybe they understand it more than you. Maybe it is you who are taking things out of context as you Christians always accuse others. I have studied the Holy Bible quite extensively. Why do you suppose only Christians study and understand your stupid Bible?

Let me guess; if people talk against the Bible, you assume they must not understand it. Right?
