Wisdom teeth appear between the ages of 17 and 25 (although they may appear when older, younger, or may not appear at all).

You should see a dentist every 6 months or whenever something out of the ordinary happens in your mouth. You are too young for your wisdom teeth to be coming in. I have NEVER seen a patient younger than 15 years old with wisdom teeth coming in. DO NOT go to your dentist, have them take a panoramic xray, and refer you to an oral surgeon...that's not the way it works. Go to your dentist, tell them about your concerns, and you and your dentist can figure out the best way to diagnose and treat your problem. Very often the 12 year molars are not fully grown into your mouth at your age, and may have inflamed gums with food impaction around them. Talk to your dentist, but a person your age CERTAINLY shouldn't be telling him what Xrays to take and which specialist you should be referred to as flutterby suggests above. Good luck to you.

The ideal time to get your wisdom teeth out is when their crowns are fully formed and their roots aren't developed. If your 12 year molars are already in and you have some teeth coming in then you should have your dentist take a panoramic x-ray and refer you to an oral surgeon if they need to be taken out. You are at the age now that they could be ready any time to be removed. Good luck.

Yes those are your wisdom teeth, you are a bit young to get them, but sometimes that happens. I know your mouth hurts a lot when they come in.
