His descent among the dead brought to completion the proclamation of the Gospel and liberated those holy souls who had long awaited their Redeemer. The Gates of Heaven were now open, and these holy souls entered everlasting happiness enjoying the beatific vision. Please note Jesus did not deliver those souls damned to eternal punishment in hell nor did He destroy hell as such; they remained in that state and place of damnation begun at the time of their particular judgment

It's not the Lord's Prayer that says that - it's the Apostles' Creed.
The people in Hell included all the people who had died before Jesus died. Since Jesus hadn't died yet, no one could enter heaven, even righteous people. Once Jesus had died, He went to hell to bring out the righteous people who had been waiting there for their redemption (such as the prophets of the Old Testament)
The idea is that these people weren't being tortured in hellfire like damned souls would be. Rather they were in kind of a limbo state - something kind of like the conception the ancient Greeks had of Hades. But they couldn't enter Heaven until Jesus had redeemed them on the cross. This event is sometimes referred to as the "harrowing of Hell."

yes jesus descended into hell and took back the keys of death so that if we come to christ we do not die but have eternal life with him in heaven. There was already souls in hell that were the people of bad characters. People who were good went to paradise. If you read revelations in the bible, that might be of some help to you also.

Yes He went to Abraham's Bosom to preach his Gospel and He came back with many walking the earth from the times of Old. He then visited on Earth to show Himself Risen from the dead and in front of 500 witnesses He ascended into Heaven ! This first rapture is reported in only one place in the Bible. Once again David Very ver good answer.

That's in the Apostle's Creed, not the Lord's prayer. And it's not universally accepted, though most people assume it's true since it's been a part of church tradition since (as some sources attest) the first century.

It does not say that in the "Our Father". However we know that He went to hell after the cross and preached to those in Abraham's Bosom(Paradise before the Ressurection). We know that He snatched the Keys of Death, Hell, and the Grave from Satan. We know that He led captivity captive(Abraham's Bosom) and took it to Heaven.
Psa 68:18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, [for] the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell [among them].
Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
Don't forget that Jesus said He would be as Jonah was 3 days in the belly of the whale, that He:
Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

The old testament is full of judgment. In fact, "judgment" is a good word for the old testament. a lot of souls were exiled to hell, waiting for Jesus to come and rescue them.
I don't think the lord's prayer says anything about Jesus taking a trip to hell and back....not unless it refers to his surprise trip to Iraq last thanksgiving when he fed the troops a fake turkey.

Jesus told his disciples that Satan did not have a hold on him. I imagine, in regards to your question, that meant that even though Jesus went to Hades, Satan had no property rights on Jesus, because Satan was never able to tempt Jesus into sinning against God.
(Of course, what do I know? I am just a dumb Orangutan, living here in the Zoo, hoping we are not served spinach for dinner.)
