I am wondering about a recent bout of anxiety I am suffering from. I am a smoker. I was smoking about one pack a day. A week ago I had a lung infection and it was hard to smoke. Since then I have only been smoking about half pack a day. I have also been experiencing some high anxiety since last week but only on my days off of work. I have a very physical job. I am wondering if maybe the combination of lower amounts of nicotine and 2 days of no strenous excercise could be the cause of high anxiety.

Has anyone else experienced this before??

you have been denying yourself the endorphines released through strenuous physical activity. also, not smoking and/or reducing your nicotine intake is denying your brain the high you receive with each cigarette smoked. your brain is accustomed to the nioctine and endorphines. they are both mood stablilizers, so it's apparent that you've created a chemical imbalance resulting in the bouts of anxiety. it doesn't happen at work because you are working hard and releasing the needed endorphines.

No, not anxiety. But when I got a cold, the cigarette tasted like burning rope.

I have quit a long time ago - at the time most of my withdrawal problem was not having something between my fingers. What solved it was carrying a pencil around for a while.

About your anxiety, don't worry - it won't be long before it goes away.
