It depends on many factors....when my DH went in a few years ago, I got a post card with his address within 10 of his arrival. I did get a 2 minute phone call to let me know he arrived.

His recruiter can get you the address, and if anything, his parents should have it shortly. Keep the letters going, because he's going to need them, but don't send stuff that might get him in trouble. Just words of encouragement, maybe with a touch of your perfume at the most, because they distribute mail and give them a rough time sometimes. And there will be some times when you don't hear from him, but keep your faith up and don't upset him by any means, because he'll be going through some mental training too. So, to keep that short, keep the drama at home & don't ever feel jealous for any reason while he's just in bootcamp. And save up to visit him for his graduation.

When my husband (then-boyfriend) was in basic, it took probably a month or so before I got an address for him. I wrote a lot before that, and just threw everything in one big envelope once I got the address.

It was 4 or 5 weeks before I got an address for my husband. He was able to write once before that but that was during reception and they don't stay there.

He gets to call home in the first 72 hours and they should have given him the address on his second or third day.
