...and they know that these civilian contractors are the ones making the big bucks while the Soldiers do all the dirty work and have to treat the civilian contractors with respect?

Is this how Bush and his regime support our troops?

Good point.
We are really talking BIG BUCKS here!
A friend of mine was in Afghanistan, working in for a contractor, (I think he was issuing rations, or something) and he earned much more than the average American.

These contractors are there working as a part of the US initiative to begin rebuilding Iraq. Yes, contractors make big money...but they also make big money in the US as well. And, of course, these people are taking their lives into their hands just being there. It wouldn't take much for a few car bombs to be placed nearby the new structures and blow them all sky high. Or to send in the extremists with dynamite strapped to them.

These contractors are basically 'unprotected' and yes, there is some security by Iraq police agencies, but they concentrate more on the border regions right now.

So in my view, I don't see any of it being a picnic and second, I have family there and they seem to think that it is pretty great that these people are accomplishing what they are. There is only one man directing this reconstruction effort and he's having one H of a time with it. That's why they are making the money, and Iraq was given back some of the assets that were frozen in the US banks to pay them.

Yep, If I were in the litter box over there I'd be damned mad about earning peanuts compared to what the contractors get. The contractors hide behind the troops and make about 5 to 10x more money.

The only ones I wouldn't give crap to are the ex-military that have no other jobs but contracting and have to do it to make a living.

The civilian contractors are walking a very tight rope.If they are caught while on duty they have literally no back up from the US Government.Their position as lawful or unlawful combatants or mercenaries have not been in question recently. They can be any one of these and not entitled to Geneva Conventions.

but you also need to know that most of these contractors at one time where also in the military all their doing is either finishing up their 20years with working a government job or just doing something that they like to do with the type of people that they like to be around. and it's not like they have base housing back in the states or live on the base like the soldiers do.

Yes, it is demoralizing indeed. But that's the sad difference between fighting for the country and fighting for the money.

You can call the soldiers patriotic and the contractors materialistic.

All of the ones i talked to are indifferent or OK with it. Nice try making a pointless point. The truth is someone has to do the job and the military needs help sometimes... I guess you are trying to not only get Bush into some "super-human-god-like status" as well as our military then talk trash when they fall short of your absurd mark no one can tow!
