120-130 F is too hot for yeast. They grow better down around 85 to 90 F. Non Fat Dry Milk helps yeasts grow better. You can always add warm water, some NFDM and a little sugar to the yeast and give it enough time to multiply before you make the bread per se. This will give the yeast a better chance to leaven the bread.

At 120-130F, the Yeast is dead. You usually want water around 80F. Also, be sure not to add too much salt to the mix. Too much salt will also kill the yeast.

Also, you want to add the yeast to water before adding it to the mix. That way the yeast has a chance to dissolve.

follow the directions on the yeast package. Useually you have to add it to a little warm water with a little sugar and let it sit for a couple of minuites before you add it to your ingredients. But read the directions, you might not have to do that.
