I want to input a cell with a formula for example Y = mx + b .... and have that formula spit out the answer if m,x and b are known. In other words i dont want to put A1*B1 + C1 if m,x and b were in those respective columns. What I would like to have in the cell is: =m*x+b and Excel will know how to calculate that. Anyone know how to do this?

Assign range names to the sells you desire to put data into.
Name one "m", one "x", and the last one "b"
I believe that your formula will then function.

click on the cell that you want to have the equation in, then on the toolbar, enter = m+x+b, etc. ( In other words, input the range of cells that require the equation...) Good Luck
