On Label it at bottom is typed N.F.S.- also i have located a postcard that looks like the painting.

The label means that the picture was shown somewhere and was "not for sale" just for exhibition. This is a visual question and requires a picture to answer properly. Also you need to provide size, media, condition, its apparent age. Is the info you provided from this label? Is it on the painting? on the back? It may be the address of the artist. perhaps you could link an image or two?

I can't hazard any kind of guess about its worth, nor can anyone elso without the information I mentioned.

Look to the community in Vermont for information, she is likely local. But from when? A cursory inspection of resources I have currently does not reveal anything about her. The public liberary may be able to help.
