Who is Pat R. and why do people listen to him when he says things like the world is going to end in 2008 and on May 12 there is going to be a hurricane? Does anyone out there listen to his speeches and do you believe what he says is evident?

Pat Robertson is a cult leader in my opinion. There are even many Christians who do not like him.

Pat Robertson is an evangelical media man who has run for public office in the past. He does a show called 700 Club which is a Christian oriented news magazine show, kind of like dateline only very very conservative and religiously slanted.
Like a lot of other public figures, I think Pat believes he knows what he is talking about because he thinks God is in his pocket. He probably also believes this is the "end times" which have been predicted in the Bible in Revelation. Lots of Christians have explained historical and current events in terms of prophecy from the Bible, and other sources...such as when someone stands up and says..."God told me ____ is going to happen." It is interpretation of what has been said, but no one can tell what tomorrow will bring.
He has quite the following in terms of media viewers. I don't know if he has any political power.

Pat Robinson is a Christian evangelist that hosts a show called CBN it works the same as CNN. I am not sure why he says the world is ending in 2008 because the Bible makes it clear that no one can predict the day or hour that Jesus will come back (I'm assuming by world ending he's referring to the return of Jesus). I do not listen to his speeches or believe what he said about 2008.

Pat Robertson heads the very successful Christian Broadcasting Network, and he has hosted the 700 Club for decades. By his very tenacity and his chutzpah, he has developed a following, sufficient to have run for President in 2000. Anyone who can garner that kind of income and following will be listened to by some, but it makes it all the more incumbent on those of us who disagree to do so openly and not let him get away with saying things that are inaccurate, nonsensical, bigoted, or unethical.

Pat Robertson is an Evangelical Christian minister. He is also the host of the Christian television program, "The 700 Club".
People listen to him because...well, I'm not entirely sure why.
He claims that God talks to him. 2,000 years ago, he would have been a prophet. Today, he's a nutjob.

So the real question is, what in the world are you going to believe if this stuff comes to fruition? I haven't heard any of this but you never know. Sometimes what you read isn't always what people say. Read some of the answers to questions asked on this board and you'll see why. Ridiculous.

1. "Who is Pat R. " - Pat Robertson is a televangelist who is also a nut.
2. "why do people listen to him" - As P. T. Barnum once said, "There's a sucker born every minute."
3. "Does anyone out there listen to his speeches" - Unfortunately, there are a lot of gullible people out there who hang on every word this fellow says.
4. "do you believe what he says is evident?" - Not a chance.

It's Pat Robertson and he, in my humble opinion, is a nut job, a loon, a very scary individual that for some reason has a lot of influence over a lot of Christian peopleof which I am one not that he has any influence over me because I again think he is a nut job and a loon one match short of a matchbook one banana short of a bunch anyway you get my drift.

Pat Robertson. Now, try asking that question, again. He also says that if you hang out with gay people and don't try to convince them to stop being gay you can catch it like a disease. He is one of the most politically active evangelical Christians around, and I don't believe God plays politics. At the same time, his organization has helped a lot of people. I don't know much about him though so best to ask again with the correct name.

I am a born again Christian. Pat Robertson makes me cringe. Guys like him are among the reasons why unbelievers mock Christianity. What he says is absolutely not relevant and should not be trusted.
