i have some music files, but they arent the right type of file so i cant transfer them to itunes. how can i change what kind of file they are?

first make sure you can view the file type. if you can't, go to control panel and find folder options. go to view tab. uncheck hide extensions for known file types. press ok and then right click the file to change and press rename. the only problem is that changing file types could make the file unuseable.

the other way is to go to a website like http://www.zamzar.com/ or http://media-convert.com/ or http://www.convertzone.com/

the last way is find a program that can change them like http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/

You need an audio file converter if iTunes does not support the format you have it in...
Go to download.com and look for audio convertion programs under audio and video, then rippers and converters... alot are free to use too.

download goldwave - and make sure you also download the LAME mp3 file (this is an mp3 encoder)
you will need to convert your .mp3 (format) file/song to a .mp4 (format) file/song in order for it to play in itunes
