The religion began in Iran in 1844 with a Herald called the Bab (Gateway) who foretold the coming of a great "Manifestation of God" called Baha'ullah (meaning the Glory of God). Prominent teachings include world unity, economic justice, equality of men and women, religion must be in accord with science. Akko and Haifa in Israel are important holy sites. I'm not a Baha'i, but find much of the teaching very noble and uplifting. This faith has suffered considerable persecution in the land of its birth.

I'm a Baha'i. Baha'is believe that there is only on God and that all the major religions come from God. We believe that there is one race of human beings, made up of many colors and characteristics (like a flower garden!). Baha'u'llah also taught that women and men are equal (even more radical back in the 19th century than it is now!) and that all should be educated. I had some friends who worked in a Baha'i school in India (run by Baha'is, but open to everyone) and they told me about the progress they made toward getting people to educate their daughters as well as their sons.
I'm not sure exactly what questions you may have, but feel free to email me. BTW, a question for you - are the 'all kinds of rock' you like the kind you climb or the kind you listen to?

I am a Baha'i.
This religion was founded by Baha'u'llah who lived in Persian in the 19th century, ending his life in exile in Baghdad, Constantinople, Adrianople and eventually in Akka in the Holy Land. He gives a vision of world peace, promotes the equality of rights between men and women, the compatibility of science and religion...
We believe he was the Prophet expected by all major religions to renew the message of God to humankind.

Baha'i here. I'm kind of busy right at the moment. Email me with your questions if you wouldn't mind and I'll be happy to help in any way I can.
I accidentally deleted a couple of emails that I believe were responses from my response to this question. Please resend. Thank you.
