You will have to buy the tickets for him thru qantas.com.au
Just sign in and go to Frequent Flyer member. pretty much step by step from there

The real difficulty will be getting one the day (year?) you want it. It has been practically impossible each time I've tried to get a Perth to Melbourne flight. I get wine instead these days!
